Physical Therapy Exercise Library

Rebuilding legacy content

For anyone working for an older organization, you know that you inherit a legacy content on day one. We had been growing our library of content for over forty years and some of the visual assets had grown quite long in the tooth. Additionally we were rebuilding all of our content as structured content—reusable chunks. When we got to our physical therapy and exercise content we knew we had a big job ahead of us.

Working together with a brilliant content strategist and a physical therapist we were able to winnow down over 1,000 bespoke instruction topics into a core set of around 300. From there we planned the visual styling and started organizing shoots.

As many of our clients still provide instructions in black-and-white printouts (with hopefully enough toner in the cartridge) we knew we needed to ensure the images could print visibly under those circumstances. We needed to be as brand-neutral as possible as a B2B company. And we knew our content could be provided to people of any age, any background, and under any health condition. And we knew the images may need to live another twenty or thirty years in a content library.
